North Haven, 2016


The island community of North Haven off the coast of Maine visited during the final months of the 2016 Presidential election campaign. This peaceful and sparsely populated island is roughly 12.7 km long and 4.7 km wide, sitting in Penobscot Bay. It has population of 417 which rises with annual Summer visitors. The island is part of Knox County whose land area makes up only 32% of total area, the rest being water. The primary industries on North Haven are carpentry and lobster fishing.
